My husband enjoyed the leadership class with Charles at Church of the Apostles. We have been praying for you all. Maggie is an angel, a true miracle and beautiful reminder of our amazing Father. She has deeply touched our lives. May God's face shine brightly upon you all.
We began this blog to share the story of our daughter, Maggie, and to celebrate her life with you. As parents of our 3-year-old son, Carson, we have the privilege of experiencing firsthand the joys of parenthood and a love so deep that it makes our hearts swell. When we found out several months ago that we were expecting our second child, we were overwhelmed with happiness and grateful that God has chosen us to care for another of his beautiful creations.
On June 16th, we received the worst news that any parent can receive. During a routine ultrasound, it was discovered that Maggie has a severe neural tube defect called Anencephaly, a congenital birth defect whereas the top portion of the neural tube did not close within the first 26 days of pregnancy resulting in the absence of the top of her skull and a large portion of her brain. We were told that anencephaly is a non-life giving condition and, if she makes it to term, would not be expected to live past a few minutes, or, if we were lucky, a few days. Our sadness was indescribable.
Despite our sadness, our love for Maggie and our trust in God has not faltered. Before we even made it out of the doctor's office that afternoon, we agreed that as long as her heart was beating inside my womb, we would keep her with us. We know that God has entrusted Maggie to us and that her life does have meaning.
We are asking our family and friends to partner with us on this journey and to pray that God be glorified in the life of our sweet Maggie.
